a designer’s life

September 11, 2012

I saw this cool graphic on fastco.design, and it reminded me of our class – first of all, it really struck me how all of the pictures are variations of basic shapes, kind of like our first assignment. Secondly, I think the metaphors that the artist is using are very clever; the piece is supposed to illustrate different components of a designer’s life. For example, “clients” are fish hooks with bait, indicating that they may seem very attractive, but are actually a trap. Also, “recognition” is a corkscrew – it lifts you up and exposes what’s inside. For “images”, he puts four triangles together to form a square.
